Terneuzen, January 13, 2026 – Today, a new profession is being added to the career route of the Portaal van Vlaanderen, represented by Dow, one of the largest employers in the region. With this addition, Dow once again contributes to inspiring young people to pursue a future in technology.
The new profession is represented by operator Mischa van Bree. Mischa holds a VAPRO C diploma (MBO 4 Process Technology) and is active in the region encouraging young people to explore technical careers and work in the region. During the day, Mischa monitors and optimizes processes at Dow; in his free time, he channels his creativity as a DJ behind the turntables. This combination shows how technology, precision, and creativity can strengthen one another.
The Portaal van Vlaanderen is delighted with this addition. Alongside Mischa, 15 other enthusiastic employees from just as many companies have now joined the career route. They share their hands on experience to give young people a realistic and inspiring view of working in the region. Through an interest test and the career route, young people can explore 16 different professions. The route helps them make informed study and career choices. Their selected profession also counts toward the mandatory LOB portfolio in secondary and vocational education.
Through this collaboration, businesses, education, and the region are jointly strengthening the influx into technical professions.
