Dow Wins Two Cefic European Responsible Care® Awards

Terneuzen, the Netherlands – December 9, 2025 –Dow has won two Cefic Responsible Care Awards this year. The first award recognizes our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) initiatives in Europe: “Inspiring Future Innovators: Engaging the Next Generation in STEM.” This is a powerful testament to the impact of our STEM activities across Europe. The second award is part of a broader group initiative in the category ‘Above and beyond boundaries, spreading the Responsible Care® ethic across chemical value and supply chains.’ This was awarded under the umbrella of ISOPA (the European trade association for producers of diisocyanates and polyols) for the project ‘The Safe Use of Diisocyanates®: An Industry-Wide Workplace Safety Training Project®’ (BE).

About the Cefic Awards

Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council, recognizes 14 projects from European chemical companies and national associations that reflect the Responsible Care Global Charter and contribute to a safer, more sustainable future. Two special categories honor national associations and SMEs, alongside a special category celebrating the legacy of Jean Bélanger, founder of Responsible Care. Responsible Care remains a key focus of the chemical sector’s commitment to sustainable activities. What We Achieved Together

In 2024, our teams organized hands-on STEM learning experiences for young people aged 4–25. Some highlights:

  • 350+ employee volunteers involved, bringing science to life in classrooms and laboratories.
  • A cross-border approach with partners in Belgium, France, the UK, Spain, and more, ensuring equal access to STEM opportunities.
  • 200+ STEM events organized in NL and DE.
  • Increased interest and improved performance of students in STEM subjects.
  • National and regional recognition through awards, media coverage, and collaborations with universities, educational organizations, and external stakeholders.

Above and beyond boundaries: Spreading Responsible Care® ethic across chemicals value and supply chains

This industry-wide safety training ensures the safe use of diisocyanates in the chemical value chain. Led by ISOPA – the European trade association for producers of diisocyanates and polyols – this initiative sets a common standard for health and safety. Dow is part of this initiative and has fully implemented this mandatory training, further strengthening our commitment to Responsible Care®. By embracing this program, we help protect employees and partners and promote best practices throughout Europe.
